Gautam Adani Mukesh Ambani Net Worth: Billionaires 2021: Adani’s Wealth Soars $ 41 Billion, Premji Adds More Billions Than Mukesh Ambani

NEW DELHI: Billionaire Gautam Adani added $ 41.5 billion to his fortune in 2021 while Wipro’s Azim Premji – who is a businessman, investor and philanthropist – added over billions to his wealth than the richest in India, Mukesh Ambani.

None of the Indians made it to the top 10 billionaires list, according to the publicly available Bloomberg Billionaire Index.

Gautam Adani’s fortune last stood at $ 75.3 billion, up $ 41.5 billion since the start of the year. That’s against the $ 13 billion addition that oil empire owner Mukesh Ambani contributed to his wealth in 2021. Ambani is worth $ 89.7 billion.

Many of Adani’s listed companies generated strong returns for investors during the year. Adani Enterprises, the flagship company of the Adani Group, has seen its shares climb 245% this year. Adani Transmission climbed 288% while Adani Total Gas increased 351.42% during the period.

Shares of Reliance Industries returned a decent 18.6 percent return, while falling short of the 21 percent return provided by Sensex for the year. Ambani is still the richest Indian with $ 89.7 billion in wealth (12th overall) against $ 75.3 billion for Adani (14th overall).

Azim Premji’s wealth stood at $ 41.2 billion, up from $ 15.8 billion this year. Radhakishan Damani, the promoter of the DMart supermarket chain, saw his wealth increase from $ 9.51 billion to $ 24.4 billion.

Shares of Wipro have climbed 84% this year, while Avenue Damani supermarkets have gained 66% in the same period. HCL Tech’s Shiv Nadar had wealth of $ 32.5 billion, up $ 8.4 billion this year, thanks to a 39% increase in his shares for the year.

Billionaires such as Savitri Jindal (up $ 5.82 billion) and Kumar Mangalam Birla (up $ 5.02 billion) each added more than $ 5 billion to their wealth. Sun Pharma’s Dilip Shanghvi (up $ 4.28 billion), DLF’s KP Singh (up $ 3.61 billion), Nykaa’s Falguni Nayar (up $ 3 billion) and Sunil Mittal of Bharti Airtel remained among the other top billionaires during the period.

Nykaa de Nayar made a stellar list recently, nearly doubling her debut from issue price, making her the richest self-taught businesswoman in India. Overall, Savitri Jindal is India’s richest woman with $ 13.1 billion in wealth.
